Safeguarding Support Officers work across public, private, and voluntary sectors to help organisations meet their safeguarding responsibilities and protect individuals from harm, abuse, and neglect. They operate in education, healthcare, emergency services, housing, charities, religious groups, and sports organisations, focusing on early intervention and preventative safeguarding.

End-Point Assessment Components

To complete their end-point assessment, Safeguarding Support Officer apprentices must achieve a pass or distinction in the following two components.

  • In the presentation with questions, the apprentice will produce and deliver a presentation to their End-Point Assessor. The apprentice must submit their presentation slides and any supporting materials to TQUK by the end of week two of the EPA period. The presentation and questions will last at least 45 minutes. The assessor will ask the apprentice at least eight questions.

  • The professional discussion is a structured discussion between the apprentice and the End-Point Assessor. It establishes the apprentice’s understanding and application of all the knowledge, skills and behaviours. The portfolio of evidence should be given to the End-Point Assessor approximately two weeks prior to the discussion. The portfolio enables the End-Point Assessor to form the basis of and prepare for the professional discussion.

The discussion lasts for approximately 60 minutes, with the End-Point Assessor asking at least 12 questions.
