A hair professional can follow two pathways: hairdressing or barbering. They work within a customer-facing environment, so excellent customer service skills and safe working practices are essential. In their daily work interacting with a diverse range of clients with variable hair types and characteristics, they conduct consultations to help determine services in cutting, styling and colouring. Meanwhile, barber hair professionals create cuts, cut facial hair into shape, provide shaving services and style hair.
End-Point Assessment Components
-
Apprentices are observed in their normal workplace and must demonstrate the KSBs assigned to this assessment method on a minimum of two clients. The observation lasts six hours and the apprentice must demonstrate one creative restyle and finish, two finished looks incorporating a curly blow-dry and a hair up using at least 80% of the hair, and a colour service including a minimum of a T-Section of woven highlighs and one other colour service. Colour techniques should change the depth and tone of the hair.
