This page describes the latest version of the Digital Marketer standard (version 1.1), which came into force in March 2019. This version revises the funding band, increasing it to a maximum of £11,000. Version 1 has now been retired. For more information, please visit the IfATE’s website.

Digital marketers are the engine of a company's growth plans. They use digital tools such as websites and social media to generate awareness and consideration of their organisation. They typically work as part of a wider sales and marketing team and must have the ability to put themselves in their customers' shoes so they can understand their needs and turn that insight into compelling campaigns. The Digital Marketer apprenticeship is recognised by the Register of IT Technicians and those who complete their apprenticeship are eligible to apply for registration.

End-Point Assessment Components 

End-Point Assessment for the Digital Marketer standard is comprised of the following four components.

  • The summative portfolio is a collection of the best evidence the apprentice has to demonstrate all the requirements of the standard. For the apprentice to achieve a Pass, the portfolio must cover the totality of the standard.

  • The synoptic project is chosen by the apprentice’s training provider and employer from the selection of project briefs created by us. The project is completed over four working days and submitted to the End-Point Assessor.

  • The employer provides a reference setting out their views of the quality of the apprentice’s work. The employer reference is submitted at gateway.

  • The interview draws upon the submissions made for the previous three assessment methods. The questions asked allow the End-Point Assessor to further explore aspects of the work submitted in order to make a holistic decision about the grade to be awarded. The interview lasts 60 minutes (+10% variance).
