How to Become the Next Best Digital Marketer!
In 2020, 72% of marketing spend in the UK was allocated towards digital marketing.
With the increase in demand for digital marketing skills, it’s no surprise that our Standard of the Month is the Digital Marketer End-Point Assessment.
We know this is a highly sought-after standard but don’t just take our word for it…look at what Apprentice, Max Gunstone, had to say about the End-Point Assessment.
‘I chose this apprenticeship programme because it was a great opportunity to gain marketing experience and a qualification in a field, I was interested in. There are so many benefits to doing an apprenticeship, but for me, the main one was having the opportunity to expand my skillset with hands-on experience and guidance from my mentor.
‘Over the last year, I have been constantly learning new things, doing lots of different tasks every day, such as working on social media channels, preparing blogs, designing graphics and updating the company website.’
Max completed his Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship, achieving a distinction.
He has been part of the in-house marketing team at LMP Education for 18 months. During this time, he has created great work for the business and put himself forward for tasks, often stepping outside his comfort zone. Max produced a video for National Apprenticeship Week 2023 to help inspire others who are thinking of starting an apprenticeship.
When asked what he had learnt throughout his End-Point Assessment with us, Max said, ‘I think a key skill for life that I have learnt is communication, as in my role, I talk with so many people ranging from colleagues to customers. I have learnt how to express myself professionally, give constructive feedback, and handle presenting my ideas to others. These are all skills for life that will be incredibly helpful in the future.’
While the primary role of a digital marketer is to manage marketing campaigns that promote a brand as well as its products, there is so much more to this beneficial standard. With the Digital Marketer End-Point Assessment, Apprentices must achieve one internationally recognised vendor or professional qualification in order to complete the Digital Marketer apprenticeship.
This will then exempt one of the Ofqual-regulated knowledge modules, which are:
Knowledge Module 1: Principles of Coding (for Level 3 Digital Marketer Apprenticeship)
Knowledge Module 2: Marketing Principles (for Level 3 Digital Marketer Apprenticeship)
Knowledge Module 3: Digital Marketing Business Principle (for Level 3 Digital Marketer Apprenticeship).
So, what do Apprentices learn within the Digital Marketer End-Point Assessment? The answer could be pages long, but to sum it up:
keeping up to date with popular trends
SEO
copywriting skills
running paid campaigns
social media management.
By the end of the apprenticeship, the aim is that the Digital Marketer should have all the skills and knowledge they need to progress in their career.
The Digital Marketer apprenticeship is recognised for entry into the Register of IT Technicians, and those who complete their apprenticeship are eligible to apply for registration. Completion of the apprenticeship would also allow access to join as an Affiliate Member of the Charted Institute of Marketing and Associate membership of BCS.
With the media landscape changing every day, the need for more Digital Marketers will only increase. If you’re a training provider and want to begin your journey with us, contact us at business.development@tquk.org.
