Qualification of the Month: Preparing to work in Adult Social Care

That’s why we want to join you in celebrating Good Care month! The Good Care Campaign takes place throughout July and celebrates all the hard work that the adult social care sector does each year. There are people of all ages with complex needs, and while it’s good to always spread awareness no matter the month, Good Care month aims to inspire the public to consider social care as a great career choice.
In celebration of Good Care Month 2022, July’s Qualification of the Month is the TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care (RQF).
There are currently over 1.6 million people working in the social care sector. As the number of older people needing care is growing, it is estimated that the sector needs another half a million jobs, and people to do them, by 2035. This qualification gives learners the skills needed to work in adult social care and join the sector in looking after the growing population.
Purpose of qualification
The role of a social care worker is to assist individuals, families, and communities in approving their well-being for them to live a better quality of life.
With our Level 2 Certificate in Preparing for Work in Adult Social Care (RQF), learners will develop the knowledge and understanding of what is needed for a variety of job roles in the adult health and social care sector, such as equality and diversity, safeguarding, a duty of care, health and safety, and handling information.
Rachel Blood, Lead EQA for Health and Social Care at Training Qualifications UK said, “This qualification will help you understand some of the key legislations that care staff need to follow as well as help you get a better understanding of the sector.”
Mandatory Units
Want to know more about the mandatory units? To be able to successfully pass this qualification, learners must achieve 20 credits from the following mandatory units:
Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings.
Principles of communication in adult social care settings
Principles of diversity, equality, and inclusion in adult care settings
Principles of personal development in adult social care settings
Understand health and safety in social care settings
Understand how to handle information in social care settings
Understand person-centred approaches in adult social care settings
Understand the role of the social care worker

Apprenticeship route
Completed the TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Preparing for Work in Adult Social Care (RQF) and want more?
Why not complete the Adult Social Care Apprenticeship standard with us. This apprenticeship will cover both Adult Workers and Personal Assistants.
Once completed the Adult Care Worker Apprenticeships, learners will have a variety of jobs to choose to go into, such as residential nursing, day centres and some clinical healthcare settings.
