Important update regarding the ESFA withdrawal for low/no publicly funded enrolments

In early 2021, the Education and Skills Funding Agency provided a list of qualifications that were due to have funding withdrawn due to having low or no publicly funded enrolments. The ESFA defined these as follows: 

• Low publicly funded enrolments - qualifications approved and operational for three years and have had between zero and 99 publicly funded enrolments in each of the three funding years (but not zero in all three years). 
• No publicly funded enrolments - qualifications approved and operational for three years and have had zero publicly funded enrolments in each of the three funding years. 

Where qualifications were identified to fall in one of the above categories, the ESFA has decided to withdraw the following funding: 

• 16 to 19 study programmes 
• ESFA funded adult education budget including legal entitlements and local flexibility 
• Advanced Learner Loans 
• European Social Fund 

Therefore, the following list of qualifications will not receive funding for new starts from 1st August 2022. The ESFA will continue to fund students who have already started on qualifications in this list before 1st August 2022. These learners will be funded until they complete the qualification or the certification end date of the qualification.

• TQUK Level 2 Award in Prevention and Control of Infection (RQF) 
• TQUK Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (RQF) 
• TQUK Level 1 Award in Principles of Health and Safety in the Workplace (RQF) 

These qualifications will have funding approval retained from 1st August 2022 for one further year.
