Qualification changes to Design, Engineer, Construct!

This month we are covering changes made to the following qualifications:

• TQUK Level 1 Certificate in Design, Engineer, Construct! The Digital Built Environment

• TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Design, Engineer, Construct! The Digital Built Environment

Following feedback from multiple Centres regarding the above qualifications, we have taken the decision to increase the Total Qualification Time (TQT) for both qualifications from 160 TQT to 240 TQT. As a consequence the recommended directed study in both qualifications has changed from 40 hours to 120 hours.

Another consequence of the change is an increase to credit value for all units within these qualifications. Therefore in the Level 1 Certificate in Design, Engineer, Construct! The Digital Built Environment the following credit value changes have been made:

• F/615/8822 - Changed from 3 credits to 5 credits. 

• L/615/8824 - Changed from 7 credits to 9 credits. 

• R/615/8825 - Changed from 3 credits to 5 credits. 

• D/615/8830 - Changed from 3 credits to 5 credits

In the Level 2 Certificate in Design, Engineer, Construct! The Digital Built Environment the following credit value changes have been made:

• H/615/8831 - Changed from 5 credits to 7 credits. 

• K/615/8832 - Changed from 4 credits to 6 credits. 

• M/615/8833 - Changed from 4 credits to 6 credits. 

• T/615/8834 - Changed from 3 credits to 5 credits. 

TQUK are now in the process of liaising with our credit rating body to have these updates reflected on the SCQF Framework.Finally, we also received some feedback that assessment criteria 4.4 in unit L/615/8824 of the Level 1 qualification lacks clarity in relation to the grading matrix. We have therefore revised the assessment criteria changing it from “make a water level to determine changes in height changed” to “Demonstrate how you can use a water level to determine changes in height”.

Additionally, the guidance has been updated to the following “candidates can describe and demonstrate basic water level techniques to record changes in height across an existing landscape”.
