Advanced and creative hair professionals are innovators who research fashion-forward trends and use the results to create, plan and promote a collection of hairstyle looks. They’re driven to continually deliver high-quality services and take ownership of their work and client lists. Their work environment may vary from bespoke salons to the media industry and they work with a diverse clientele, providing services such as in-depth tailored consultations, hair smoothing and strengthening, and colour conversions.
End-Point Assessment Components
To complete their End-Point Assessment, Advanced and Creative Hair Professional apprentices must achieve a pass or distinction in the Observation and Questioning and Professional Discussion components. The Knowledge Test is graded Pass/Fail.
-
The knowledge test is a controlled assessment that consists of 40 multiple-choice questions. It is an accurate way to test the apprentice’s underpinning knowledge that may not naturally occur in other assessment methods. The test can be taken online or in paper-based format. The apprentice has 80 minutes to complete the test.
-
The observation and questioning takes place in the apprentice's normal workplace and provides them with the opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviours they've developed. As part of this assessment, the apprentice undertakes two services: (1) create one precision cut and finish from their personal collection of hair style looks (2) complete one advanced creative colour conversion service on previously coloured hair. This assessment takes place across the course of one working day (typically considered to be 7.5 hours) and may be split into discrete sections (per service). Two questions will be asked after each of the services.
-
The professional discussion is a 45-minute structured, two-way discussion between the apprentice and their End-Point Assessor. The End-Point Assessor will ask the apprentice a minimum of eight questions prepared after reviewing the apprentice’s collection of looks, which will be submitted at gateway.
